He was an officer of the Guardia di Finanza. He holds a PhD in Legal Sciences and has collaborated for several years with the Chair of Criminal Law at the University of Salento. For many years, he lectured at the School of Specialisation for Legal Professions in relation to the teaching of Criminal Law and Criminal Law of Economics.
